Welcome to the blog!

Hello everyone! Welcome to the 2013 edition of the Fisher More Ski Blog!

Over the next few weeks, preparations will really begin in earnest for our trip. Once we are in Austria, I will be posting regularly (hopefully daily) regarding our adventures en piste and in the evenings. Pictures and videos should also be forthcoming as well. Those of you who have young people on their second (or third) ski trip will be well aware of the general content and the posting schedule, as well as things to check off the big list of 'things to do' before we pull away on the coach. For first timers, please read below for all manner of useful and important information.

If you would like to stay up to date with this blog, feel free to sign up to the RSS feed - it can be reached via the 'subscribe' button. I have also implemented a mobile-only theme for those of you with smart phones and tablets. While not as pretty, the slimmed down profile will make checking the blog on the move a much speedier experience. I have disabled comments, simply because by the time I have finished posting in the evening I won't have time to answer them, and any concerns can and should be addressed to Mr. Fowler via the phone number in your information packs.

So, what do we need to make sure is in order before we go? In terms of paperwork and so on, the following all need to make their way in to school as soon as possible:
  • Passport
  • European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)
  • Signed behaviour form
  • Signed paracetamol form
  • Bank monies in envelopes (euros for the week, and pounds for the trip back)
For packing bags, don't forget (amongst many other things of course):
  • Socks
  • Thermal base layers
  • Gloves
  • Hats
  • Glasses and goggles
  • Sunblock (extremely important)
  • Fancy dress outfit
  • DVDs for the coach (no more than 12 rating, and labelled with your name)
  • Towels - they will not be supplied by the hotel, please don't forget!
When doing your final pack, be sure to have a small bag for the coach. When the coach hold is loaded, there will be no access to it until we arrive at our destination. That means you need to have everything you need survive for 20-odd hours with you on the coach, or you will have to go without. We should have plenty of time before our ski fitting session in the evening, but if we are delayed then you will need a pair of your ski socks in your hand luggage to allow staff at the ski store to fit you properly.

Please arrive at school at 9:45am on Friday 5th April for loading of the coach. We intend to return to school at 8:00pm  on Saturday 13th April.

What will we do in the evenings? Well, here is the itinerary so far:
  • Saturday - Mr Fowler's Quiz
  • Sunday - Disco\Karaoke
  • Monday - Mr. and Mrs. Competition
  • Tuesday - Bowling
  • Wednesday - Pizza Night
  • Thursday  - Fancy Dress Disco
I don't know about you, but I am really excited.....

Mr. N.
